The focus will be on five elements of authentic speaking:

• Being natural/authentic – enhances the speakers’ comfort level and promotes engagement

• Pacing – makes it easier for the listener to receive the information shared

• Articulation – so the listener can easily understand the words that are shared, even if the speaker has an accent

• Gestures – an aspect of authenticity that allows the message to flow and promotes engagement

• Comfort and Ease – works best when the speaker focuses on the audience rather than self

Being aware of who you are as a speaker in each of these categories enables the speaker to speak with maximum comfort and promotes engagement in a natural way.
